So, in the last week the Steel Frame for the Merchistoun Hall Bandstand has been erected. This was very generously donated by Bourne Steel (who I worked for a number of years ago) and erected by Structural Steelcraft, a East Meon based fabrication and erection firm. The steel frame consists of 8 large columns, 8 roof steels, 8 perimeter joists and a centre connection beam and weighs 3 Ton in total. This very generous donation to the project has a true value of about £10,000. Ainscough Crane Hire very kindly donated free hire of a 40 Ton mobile crane to erect the steelwork.
